Cell Driver Exhibits at FAAS8: HASZARD!

We were excited to take part in FAAS 8, the Festival of Alternative Art Sudbury, and to support our Artist in Residence, Cell Driver, as they presented a new site-responsive work throughout the festival.

Presented by Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, this year’s edition, Haszard, explored themes of chance, unpredictability, and the unexpected. Through installations, performances, and interventions in public space, the festival encouraged new encounters and creative experiences throughout downtown Sudbury.

Over the course of the weekend, Cell transformed a retired taxi van into an evolving installation that invited curiosity, conversation, and participation. Visitors were able to witness the work as it changed throughout the festival, with painted surfaces, altered interiors, and interactive elements gradually reshaping the vehicle into a playful and immersive environment.

One of the highlights of the experience was seeing people stop, ask questions, and engage with the work in unexpected ways. We were grateful for the opportunity to participate and to be part of such a vibrant and welcoming arts community.

The photographs below capture moments from the creation of the work, details from the completed installation, and some of the many interactions that took place throughout the festival.
