Location: North Bay, ON
Term: 17 month contract at 28 hrs/wk, with potential for renewal Compensation: $52,000 ($25/hr)

About the Role:
We are seeking a creative, organized, and community-driven individual to lead the day-to-day operations of a new Makerspace in North Bay (to be launched in Fall 2025).
The Makerspace Coordinator will be responsible for supporting members and programming, maintaining the space and equipment, and helping build a vibrant, accessible, and inclusive creative hub for artists, hobbyists, and community groups.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role, ideal for someone with experience in facilitation, media arts, or maker culture who’s excited about community-building, collaborative learning, and low-barrier access to tools and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily operations of the Makerspace, including scheduling, maintenance, and health and safety.
- Ensure that the space is welcoming, inclusive, and aligned with the core values of the Makerspace.
- Greet community members and groups and facilitate orientation to the space; Register new members.
- Be responsible for addressing inappropriate or disruptive behavior of members according to established procedures
- Support community users of all skill levels in the use of makerspace equipment and software; help design instructional guides for equipment and software.
- Manage shared equipment and supplies (media arts, digital, print, and visual art tools)
- Plan and organize community programming, workshops and events
- Promote the Makerspace through outreach, social media, and partnerships
- Collect feedback and track usage data to support evaluation and development
- Makes recommendations leading to the development of Makerspace policies and procedures.
- Liaise with the Makerspace Working Group, contractors, and advisory group as needed
Qualifications:
Experience in coordination, facilitation, arts administration, or community programming
Familiarity with at least one area of “making” (e.g. media arts, 3D printing, sewing, screen printing, or audio/video production)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusive practices
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
Experience with tool/equipment maintenance or health and safety is an asset
Indigenous and/or French language skills and/or experience working with Indigenous or newcomer communities are strong assets
